1. “One”
This is Azza’s Half Hour where today Creed is in focus and you were just listening to a song entitled “One”.
Creed is an American rock group featuring lead singer Scott Stapp, lead guitarist Mark Tremonti, bass guitarist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips. The group was formed in 1995 in Tallahassee, Florida and they found local success by playing gigs at bars and small venues throughout the area.
In August 1997 after signing to Wind-Up Records Creed released their debut album “My Own Prison” which charted in at number 22 on the U.S charts. Singles from the record were the title track along with “One”, “What’s This Life For” and “Torn”. Although Creed gained little media exposure around this time their debut album still sold over 6 million copies in the United States and the band also won two Billboard Music Awards in 1999 for Rock Song Of The Year with the track “One” and Rock Artist Of The Year.
Creed then released their next album entitled “Human Clay” in September 1999. The record topped the U.S Billboard chart and peaked at number 2 on the ARIA chart. Singles from “Human Clay” were “Higher”, “Are You Ready?”, “With Arms Wide Open” and “What If”. “Higher” was written by lead singer Scott and became the groups breakthrough hit charting in at number 7 on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 plus number 1 on both the American Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock Tracks chart. While “With Arms Wide Open” was Creed’s first and only number 1 hit on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 to date.
Now on Azza’s Half Hour are both “Higher” and “With Arms Wide Open” by Creed.

The record topped the U.S Billboard chart for 8 weeks equalling a record which was first held by The Beatles. Singles from “Weathered” were the title track along with “My Sacrifice”, “Bullets”, “One Last Breath”, “Hide” and “Don’t Stop Dancing”.
“My Sacrifice” was written by both Scott Stapp and Mark Tremonti and charted in at number 4 on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 plus number 1 on the U.S Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks. In 2003 at the Grammy Awards the track was nominated for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal”. Another great song on the album was “One Last Breath” which in America peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 2 on the Adult Top 40 plus number 1 on the Active Rock chart.
