ADAM BRAND
Hello and welcome to another edition of Azza’s Half Hour, I’m your host Aaron Gillin. Today on the show we focus on an Australian Country music artist named Adam Brand.
1. “Dirt Track Cowboys”
That was “Dirt Track Cowboys” by Aussie country star Adam Brand on Azza’s Half Hour.
Adam Brand was born on the 27th of January 1970 in Perth. In 1997 he moved to Sydney and then the following year Brand released a self-titled debut album that reached number 44 on the ARIA album charts. Not only was Adam’s album certified platinum but it was also nominated for “Best Country Album” at the 1999 ARIA Music Awards and a track from the album entitled “Last Man Standing” won Adam three CMAA golden guitar awards for “Song of the Year”, “New Talent of the Year” and “Video Track of the Year”. Also in 1999 Adam Brand was successful at the Mo Awards when he won the “Johnny O’Keefe Encouragement Award”.
Standout tracks from Adam Brand’s debut album included “Dirt Track Cowboys”, “Love Away the Night”, “Last Man Standing”, “King of the Road” and “Grandpa’s Piano”.
In 2000 Adam released his second album and this one was called “Good Friends”, the album reached number 26 on the charts and was nominated for “Best Country Album” at the 2000 ARIA Awards Ceremony. The platinum record won Brand three golden guitar awards for “Album of the Year”, “Male Vocalist of the Year” and “Song of the Year”. Standout tracks from “Good Friends” were “Beating around the Bush”, “Good Things in Life”, the title track “Good Friends”, “I Did What” and “You’re a Revhead”.

2. “Beating around the Bush”
Welcome back that was “Beating around the Bush” by Adam Brand.
After the success of “Good Friends” Brand began recording his next album entitled “Built for Speed”. The album was released in 2002 and reached number 24 on the Aussie charts. Once again an album by Adam Brand was certified platinum in Australia and at the 2003 CMAA Awards Brand won in the “Heritage Song of the Year” category which was for a moving track entitled “The Anzac”
Great songs from the album included “New England highway”, “That was us”, “The Anzac” and the title track “Built for Speed”. Here it is now “Built for Speed” on Azza’s Half Hour.
3. “Built for Speed”
That was “Built for Speed” by Adam Brand. In 2004 Brand released his fourth album “Get Loud” an album that debuted at number 2 on the Australian Country charts. “Get Loud” was certified Gold and it was also nominated for “Best Country Album” at that year’s ARIA Awards Ceremony.
Standout tracks from the album were “She’s Country”, “Come on home”, “This time of Year”, “We’re Making Up” and “Get Loud”.

4. “Get Loud”
In October of 2005 Adam Brand released a special Christmas themed album entitled “Christmas in Australia”. Not only did this album feature some tracks by Adam but it also featured a few of his friends such as The Sunny Cowgirls and Dianna Corcoran. Standouts from “Christmas in Australia” were tracks “My birthday comes on Christmas”, “Christmas Photo”, “Here Comes Santa Claus” and “All I Want for Christmas”.
In 2006 Adam Brand released his fifth studio album “What a Life”. The album was certified Gold and reached number 28 on the national album charts. Adam also received another ARIA nomination for “Best Country Album” in 2006.
“Open Ended Heartache”, “Cigarettes & Whiskey”, “Can’t Live without your Love” and “That changes everything” were the four singles from the album.

5. “What a Life”
Welcome back to Azza’s Half Hour that was “What a Life” by Adam Brand.
In 2007 Adam along with Lee Kernaghan and Steve Forde won three CMAA Awards with the track “Spirit of the bush” a song where all profits from the selling of the record went to the drought relief organisation, Aussie Helpers.
Then in July of 2008 Adam released his highest charting solo album to date “Blame it on Eve” the album peaked at number 1 on the Australian Country charts and number 10 on the National Album charts. Songs on the album include “Get on down the Road”, “Comin’ From”, “Blame it on Eve”, “Simple Man” “Waiting on Sunshine” and “Better than this”. The entire album was dedicated to Adam’s nephew Harry who passed away at the age of 2 and a half after losing a battle to cancer.

6. “Blame it on Eve”
In 2009 Adam Brand released his latest album “Hell of a Ride”. The album peaked at number 2 on the Aussie Country charts and featured songs such as “Ready for Love”, “Kissing the Phone”, “Crazy like That” and of course “Hell of a Ride”. In 2009 Brand also became the Country Music Channel Oz Artist of the Year for the third time in a row. Adam has since won that same award again in 2010 resulting in him winning the award every year since its inception.
Something else Adam took part in was the channel 7 program “Dancing with the Stars” which he won in September of 2009. Brand was partnered in the show with Jade Hatcher, who he is currently engaged to. Adam was dancing in the competition on behalf of the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia and dedicated his victory to his nephew Harry.
To cap off his year Adam also signed a recording contract with the Nashville based division of Sony Music Entertainment for distribution of his recordings in America.
