TOM RICHARDSON
Hello and welcome to another edition of Azza’s Half Hour, I’m your host Aaron Gillin. Today on the show we focus on a local Warrnambool artist named Tom Richardson.
1. “Evolution”
That was “Evolution” by Tom Richardson here on Azza’s Half Hour.
Tom Richardson is a fantastic young Warrnambool musician often labelled the “talk of the festival”. Tom is an artist that combines both blues and reggae rhythms into his foot tapping tunes and has a growing worldwide fan base. Tom has independently sold thousands of albums and has played at festivals in Port Fairy, Queenscliff and Apollo Bay in Victoria as well as playing in Queensland, New South Wales, W.A and all over Australia.
In December 2008 Tom released his debut album, “Evolution”, the record received a long list of national awards and nominations and some of the tracks from the album were played on radio stations worldwide and were also used on Australian television.
Here is a track from “Evolution” called “Sega Na Lega”.
2. “Sega Na Lega”
(“Musical Influences & Favourite Artists”)
Welcome back to the show that was Tom Richardson talking to Lazy Lester last year on “Juz Blooz”.
In 2008 Tom performed at the Blues on Broadbeach festival and sold the second highest number of CD’s at the event showing how popular he is with Australian audiences. This year Tom was nominated for Song of the year, Male vocalist of the year, Duo or group of the year and Best new talent at the Australian Blues Music Awards proving that he is one of Australia’s most promising artists.
Here is another track off the album Evolution called “Don’t Ever Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down”.
3. “Don’t Ever Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down”
(“Slide Guitar”)
Tom Richardson now shows his creative depth with an 8 piece group named the Tom Richardson Project. The music played by the project is described as infectious roots music and the hype surrounding this amazing group gives the expectation that they will be a favourite on the Aussie festival circuit. Now here is an exclusive to Azza’s Half Hour as I have been given three tracks from Tom by the “Tom Richardson Project” to play for you today. Here are the first two tracks “Kate’s Song” and “View From Above”.
4. “Kate’s Song”
(“Musician For A Job”)
5. “View From Above”
Thank you for listening to today’s show I hope you enjoyed it, now once again here is the Tom Richardson Project this time with a track called “Take Your Shoes Off”.
