Welcome to Azza’s Half Hour I’m your host Aaron Gillin. Today on the show we will be focusing on Australian country artist Kasey Chambers.

You’re listening to Azza’s Half Hour and that was a song by Aussie country music star Kasey Chambers entitled “The Captain”.
Kasey Chambers started out her career in a group called The Dead Ringer Band with her Mum, Diane, Dad, Bill and brother Nash. The Dead Ringer Band released seven albums between 1992 and 1998 plus also won two ARIA’s and seven Golden Guitar awards.
In 1999 Kasey released her first solo album “The Captain”, standout songs on the record were the title track along with “Cry Like A Baby”, “You Got The Car”, “Don’t Talk Back” and “Last Hard Bible” plus it also reached the top position on the Australian Country Charts.
Two years later in 2001 Kasey Chambers released her 2nd album which was entitled “Barricades & Brickwalls”. The album won Kasey awards for “Best Country Artist”, “Best Female Artist” and “Album Of The Year” at the 2002 ARIA’s. Singles from the record were “Runaway Train”, “On A Bad Day”, “Not Pretty Enough”, “Million Tears” and “If I Were You”. “Not Pretty Enough” was a song that reached number 1 on the ARIA charts and is Kasey’s highest charting single to date.

Welcome back to Azza’s Half Hour where today we are focusing on Kasey Chambers that was “Barricades & Brickwalls”.
In 2004 Kasey released an album called “Wayward Angel”; the record debuted at number 1 on the Aussie charts and was certified platinum within a week. Great tracks from “Wayward Angel” include “Pony”, “Hollywood”, “Paper Aeroplane”, “Like A River” and “Saturated”. At the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards in 2004 Kasey Chambers received four nominations and won “Best Female Artist” and “Best Country Album”.

This is Azza’s Half Hour on 3WAY FM and you were just listening to a song entitled “Like A River” by country musician Kasey Chambers.
In 2006 Kasey Chambers released her fourth studio album, “Carnival”, the record was a bit of a departure from Kasey’s usual style of music as it featured a more edgy and mature sound. Much like her previous album, “Wayward Angel”, “Carnival” debuted at number 1 on the Aussie charts and went platinum. Standouts on the CD were “Hard Road” which featured Powderfinger front man Bernard Fanning, “Colour Of A Carnival”, “Nothing At All”, “Sign On The Door” and “Surrender”.
Here is a track that reached the 9th position on the Australian charts entitled “Nothing At All”.
4. “Nothing At All”
In April 2008 Kasey Chambers along with her husband Shane Nicholson released an album entitled “Rattlin’ Bones”. The CD was recorded in Jimmy Barnes’ Sydney home studio and sounded like a band album rather than a duets album. The record reached number 1 in Australia and won an award for “Best Country Album” at the 2008 ARIA’s. Great songs featured on “Rattlin’ Bones” were the title track along with “Wildflower”, “The House That Never Was”, “Monkey On A Wire”, “Jackson Hole” and “The Devil’s Inside My Head”.
Following the release of “Rattlin’ Bones” Kasey and Shane appeared on an episode of the music quiz show “RocKwiz”. During the programme they performed a version of the Kylie Minogue hit “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” and the song was featured on a “RockWiz” album entitled “The Beat Goes On”.

In September 2010 Kasey Chamber released the album “Little Bird” which featured 14 songs and peaked at number 3 on the ARIA charts. Songs featured on the record include the title track “Little Bird”, “Devil On Your Back”, “Down Here On Earth”, “Beautiful Mess” and “Love Like A Hurricane”. At the 39th annual CMAA awards in Tamworth Kasey Chambers won golden guitars for “APRA Song Of The Year” and “Single Of The Year” with “Little Bird”, “Vocal Collaboration Of The Year” with Kevin Bennett for the track “Love Like A Hurricane” and “Female Artist Of The Year”.
