Welcome to Azza’s Half Hour I’m your host Aaron Gillin. Today on the show we will be focusing on the solo career of Australian singer-songwriter Shane Nicholson.

You’re listening to Azza’s Half Hour where today we are focusing on Shane Nicholson and that was a song entitled “It’s A Movie”.
Shane Nicholson first appeared on the scene in the late 1990’s as lead singer of Aussie band “Pretty Violet Stain”. The group competed in Triple J’s “Unearthed” competition and in 1997 released their first EP “Blush”. Shortly after the release of Pretty Violet Stain’s first album “Parachutes and Gravity” the band split up and Shane decided to pursue a solo career.
In 2003 his debut album “It’s A Movie” was released. The record produced by Nash Chambers featured the title track along with “Nice To Be Here”, “Life On Mars” “I Wish I Was You (Sometimes)” and “Let’s Get Started”. It was during the recording of “It’s A Movie” that Shane met his future wife Kasey Chambers when she sang backing vocals on the track “Designed To Fade”.
Following extensive touring of both Australia and America Shane released his second album “Faith & Science” in 2006. Great songs on the album include “Everybody Loves You Now”, “I Know What You Need”, “Always Be On Your Side” featuring Diesel, “Safe And Sound” and “I Can Change” featuring Kasey Chambers.

Following thesuccess of the critically acclaimed “Rattlin’ Bones” album with his wife Kasey Chambers, Shane Nicholson would go on to release his 3rd solo album “Familiar Ghosts” in 2008. The record was a collection of lost songs written by Shane which he found and decided to record in his New South Wales home studio. Shane played every instrument on “Familiar Ghosts” and also produced the entire album by himself. The impressive album featured many standouts including “Where The Water Goes”, “Summer Dress”, “Short Fuse”, “Long Time Coming” and “Who’s At Your Window?”.

In March 2011 Shane Nicholson’s 4th solo album “Bad Machines” was released. It featured musical guests Paul Kelly, Catherine Britt, Matthew Ryan and of course Kasey Chambers. “Bad Machines” debuted in the 3rd spot on the ARIA country chart and number 29 on the national ARIA chart. Some of the great songs on the album are the title track plus “Famous Last Words”, “Everywhere You Go”, “Jimmy Rodgers Was A Vampire”, “Music Is Dead” and “Hammer And Nail”.
