MICHAEL PAYNTER
Hello and welcome to Azza’s Half Hour, I’m your host Aaron Gillin. Today on the show we will be focusing on an up and coming Melbourne musician named Michael Paynter.
1. “Closer”
Welcome back that was “Closer” by Michael Paynter on Azza’s Half Hour.
Michael Paynter was born on the 29th of January 1986 in Melbourne and from the young age of seven he was already inspired by music when he began playing the piano. By the time Michael was 16 he could not only play the guitar but also the drums and had begun playing in touring bands across Australia.
In 2008 at the age of 22 Michael released his first single “Closer” which featured the title track and two other songs entitled “Get Low” and “Shine on me”. Michael has stated in an interview that he instantly fell in love with the track “Closer” because of the simple chords and rhythm.
Now on Azza’s Half Hour is the second song off the “Closer” single entitled “Get Low”.
2. “Get Low”
The amazing voice of Michael Paynter has been praised by critics everywhere and he is often compared to John Farnham. Paynter released his second single entitled “A Victim Song” in late 2008 and on that single were the title track along with “Money on Your Tongue” and an acoustic version of the classic Sting & the Police hit “Roxanne”.
Here are two tracks “A Victim Song” and “Money on Your Tongue” right here on Azza’s Half Hour.

After a great start to his career in music with two highly acclaimed singles Michael was set to release his debut album entitled “This Welcome Diversion”. Unfortunately the album was never released because of record label downsizing but Michael decided to write more music and move on.
The hard work of Michael Paynter finally paid off when he recently released an EP entitled “Love the fall” which included the title track along with four new songs. “Love the fall” is a track that features back up vocals from Michael’s good friends Lisa and Jess otherwise known as The Veronicas and is getting a lot of airplay on Australian radio.
