Hello and welcome to Azza’s Half Hour I’m your host Aaron Gillin. On today’s edition of the show we will be focusing on the hit singles from Australian rock band INXS.
1. “Don’t Change”
Welcome to Azza’s Half Hour that was “Don’t Change” by the legendary rock group we are focusing on today INXS.
INXS was formed in 1977 in Sydney and originally featured brothers Andrew, Jon and Tim Farriss along with Garry Beers, Kirk Pengilly and lead singer Michael Hutchence. The group’s first single to hit the Australian charts was “Just Keep Walking” which reached number 38 in the year 1980. Another high charting single by INXS was “Don’t Change” which made it to the 14th spot on the Aussie charts in 1982 and appeared on their third studio album.
In 1984 the band released their 4th studio album entitled “The Swing” which reached the top spot on the charts in Australia it featured singles “Dancing On The Jetty”, “I Send A Message”, “Burn For You” and their first number 1 hit on the Australian charts “Original Sin” which was written by Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss.

2. “Original Sin”
You’re listening to Azza’s Half Hour as we take a look back at some of the biggest singles by legendary Australian rock band INXS that was “Original Sin”.
In 1986 a single by INXS entitled “What You Need” made it to the 2nd position on the Aussie charts. The song appeared on their 5th album “Listen Like Thieves” and was the first single for INXS to become a top 10 hit in America where it reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. “What You Need” was a last minute addition to the “Listen Like Thieves” album and actually became the highest charting single from the record.

3. “What You Need”
In 1987 INXS released an album called “Kick” it featured the 6 singles “Need You Tonight”, “Devil Inside”, “New Sensation”, “Never Tear Us Apart”, “Mystify” and the title track plus it also reached the top spot on the ARIA charts. In America the record made it to the 3rd position on the Billboard charts and went 6 times platinum.
The first single from “Kick” entitled “Need You Tonight” came in at the 3rd position on the Aussie charts and the 1st position on the US charts. The track was written by Andrew Farriss and Michael Hutchence with the famous riff by Andrew written before a flight to Hong Kong. In 2003 “Need You Tonight” was remixed by the British-Australian group Rogue Traders and renamed “One Of My Kind” the song reached number 10 on the ARIA charts.
Another high charting song by INXS from “Kick” was the albums third single “New Sensation” which made it to number 8 in Australia and number 3 in America.
Now on Azza’s Half Hour are two great INXS hits “Need You Tonight” and “New Sensation”.

Welcome back to Azza’s Half Hour where today we are focusing on the hits of INXS that was “New Sensation”.
In the year 1990 INXS released their 7th studio album which was entitled “X” the record featured the singles “Suicide Blonde”, “Disappear”, “By My Side” and “Bitter Tears”. “X” reached number 1 on the Aussie charts and went 2 times platinum in America.
The first single from “X” was “Suicide Blonde” which made it to number 2 on the Australian charts. The track would become the final top 10 hit for INXS in Australia until after the death of Michael Hutchence.
15 years later in 2005 INXS once again had a top 10 hit when they released the single “Pretty Vegas” with new lead singer J.D Fortune who had won a reality T.V competition called “Rock Star: INXS”. “Pretty Vegas” was a single from the album “Switch” and reached number 9 in Australia.
