Keith Urban was born on the 26th of October 1967 in New Zealand and later moved with his parents to Queensland, Australia where by the age of 6 he was already getting into the music industry by performing in youth singing contests. Fast forward to 1990 and Keith Urban had signed with record label EMI in Australia and in 1991 he released his self titled debut album. The album had four Number 1 country hits entitled “Only You”, “Arms of Mary”, “The River” and “I Never Work on a Sunday”.
In 1992 Keith moved to Nashville, Tennessee and worked as a guitarist for the country pair Brooks & Dunn. Urban then formed a three-piece group named The Ranch and in 1997 the trio released an album. The record featured great songs such as “Walkin’ in the Country”, “Homespun Love”, “Freedom’s Finally Mine” and “Hank Don’t Fail Me Now”. In 1998 Keith Urban disbanded The Ranch in search of a solo career in America.
In 1999 Urban released his self-titled American debut album. Hits from Keith’s album were “It’s a Love Thing” which reached number 18 on the country billboard charts, “Your everything” which reached number 4, “Where the Blacktop Ends” which reached number 3 and a song that reached number 1 on the country billboard charts entitled “But for the Grace of God”.

In 2002 Urban released “Golden Road” an album that featured the Number 1 hits “Somebody like You”, “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me” and “You’ll Think Of Me”. “Golden Road” peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Albums chart and reached number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album also won Keith an ARIA Award for country album of the year. Great tracks included on the record were “Raining on Sunday”, “Jeans on”, “You Look Good in My Shirt” and “Whenever I Run”.

3. “You Look Good In My Shirt”
Welcome back to Azza’s Half Hour where today we are focusing on Keith Urban.
In 2004 Keith released his next album “Be Here”, it was certified 3 times platinum and nine of the songs were written by him self. “Be Here” was very successful because it reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Albums chart and also produced three number 1 singles.
“Days go by”, “Making Memories of Us” and “Better Life” were number 1 hits, while “You’re My Better Half” and “Tonight I Wanna Cry” were number 2 charting tracks. In 2004 “Be Here” won Urban Album of the Year and Best Foreign Music at the FCMA Awards, Top Male Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards and Country Album of the Year at the ARIA Music Awards.

In 2006 Keith Urban released an album entitled “Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing”. Great tracks included on the 2 time Multi-Platinum record were “Once in a Lifetime”, “Stupid Boy”, “Got it right this time”, “I told you so” and “Everybody”.

In 2007 Keith released his first greatest hits collection entitled “18 Kids”. “18 Kids” went platinum in Australia and reached number 2 on the Australian Country charts.
Keith Urban’s latest album “Defying Gravity” was released in 2009 and debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts. The 5 singles from “Defying Gravity” are “Sweet Thing”, “Kiss a Girl”, “Only You Can Love Me This Way”, “Til Summer Comes Around” and “I’m In”.
Now on Azza’s Half Hour is the track that reached number 1 on the US Country charts and entered into the top 100 ARIA charts, “Sweet Thing”.
6. “Sweet Thing”
In 2010 a live album entitled “Hope for Haiti now” was released, the album featured performances by popular artists from a telethon that took place where all proceeds went to Haiti earthquake relief organisations. “Hope for Haiti now” was released exclusively on iTunes and one of the standout tracks from the digital album was a duet of the song “Lean on Me” featuring Keith Urban along with Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock.
