Welcome to Azza’s Half Hour I’m your host Aaron Gillin. Today on the show we will be focusing on the Brian Johnson Era of the Australian rock band AC/DC.
1. “You Shook Me All Night Long”
This is Azza’s Half Hour where today we are focusing on the Brian Johnson era of AC/DC and that was a song entitled “You Shook Me All Night Long”.
After considering disbanding following the death of Bon Scott AC/DC decided to continue on with a new lead singer. Following many auditions the new lead singer would turn out to be Brian Johnson who was the former frontman of a British rock group called Geordie.
“Back In Black” became the first AC/DC album to feature Johnson and was released in July 1980. The record was dedicated to Bon Scott and reached number 1 on the charts in Australia, Canada, France and the U.K as well as number 4 in the U.S. Singles from “Back In Black” were the title track along with “You Shook Me All Night Long”, “Hells Bells” and “Rock And Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution” while other standouts included “Have A Drink On Me”, “Shoot To Thrill” and “Givin The Dog A Bone”. “Back In Black” has become the highest charting rock album of all time and is considered by many to be AC/DC’s best record so far.
After this in 1981 AC/DC released their 8th studio album “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)” which peaked at number 3 in Australia and number 1 in America. Standout songs on “For Those About To Rock” included the title track along with “Let’s Get It Up”, “Evil Walks” and “C.O.D”.
