MUSIC FROM 1980
Hello and welcome to Azza’s Half Hour, I’m your host Aaron Gillin. Today on the show we will be focusing on music from the year 1980. AC/DC, Queen, INXS and The Jackson’s are just a few of the bands we will be listening to today but now to kick off the show is a song that appeared on pop rock group The Romantic’s self titled debut album entitled “What I Like About You”.

Welcome back to Azza’s Half Hour where we are focusing on music from the year 1980, that was “What I like about you” by The Romantics.
Our next track on the show is by Aussie rockers AC/DC who in July 1980 released their 7th studio album entitled “Back in Black”. This was the first AC/DC album to feature Brian Johnson on lead vocals as he replaced Bon Scott who passed away earlier in that year. The second highest selling album of all time reached number 1 on the charts in Australia, America and the U.K plus it also featured 5 singles including our next song the album’s title track “Back in Black”.

This track appeared on the bands debut album which was released in October 1980 in Australia. Here is a standout track from the self titled debut album of INXS “Just Keep Walking”.

Now on the show is a song entitled “Antmusic” by English rock band Adam and the Ants that appeared on their 2nd studio album entitled “Kings of the Wild Frontier”. “Antmusic” was a standout on the album and was very successful in Australia spending 5 weeks at number 1 on the charts. In 1980 The Jackson 5 were simply known as The Jackson’s and the group of brothers released their 13th studio album entitled “Triumph” in July of that year. Of the four singles released on the record, “Can You Feel It” with lead vocals from both Randy and Michael Jackson, had the greatest success. In June 1980 the band released their third studio album entitled “East” it was the only record by Cold Chisel to chart in America and it featured the tracks “Standing On The Outside”, “Choir Girl”, “Rising Sun”, “Cheap Wine” and “My Baby”. “My Baby” featured the bands guitarist Ian Moss on lead vocals and is one of the band’s most popular songs.
